LOSS OF COLLAGEN AND SIGNS OF AGING

The most significant and the most displeasing impact of time on our body is the loss of collagen. In fact, everything starts with the loss and diminishing of collagen, or in other words the subcutaneous tissue. As the result of this, skin laxity is more visible, sagging is more severe and the creases are more apparent.

Unfortunately, there is no possibility to entirely recover the lost collagen with any treatments except for stem cell treatments.

The amount of collagen we can produce and replace with stem cell treatments is not sufficient yet. On that note, I would like to mention the REAL stem cell treatment. What we call stem cells in aesthetics are actually the cells named fibroblasts. These are not actually STEM cells, yet they can be considered multipotent cells which play a role in the formation of almost all tissues in the body, especially the connective tissues.

They can be produced out of a small tissue taken from the patient, but this is a complex procedure that lasts for at least a month and requires the use of full-featured devices, a sterile laboratory environment and qualified personnel. The treatment performed by those who tell you they will prepare stem cells in 15 minutes out of your blood or fat tissue is not a REAL stem cell treatment.

WHAT IS A FILLER MATERIAL WITH HYALURONIC ACID CONTENT?

The filler materials with hyaluronic acid content are the most popular ones safely used across the world at the moment. Hyaluronic acid is a natural polysaccharide polymer existing in the human body. We may consider it as the building block of all connective tissues, including the collagen and fibro-gene tissues in particular.

Therefore, the fillers contain a material that already exists in the human body but with a diminished production. Hyaluronic acid fillers are tools proven efficient against the loss of volume; they correct contour flaws and support the skin structure. As they resemble natural tissues in terms of structure, they provide perfect harmonization and tissue integration.

FILLER TYPES

Hyaluronic Acid, one of the basic substances of the connective tissues in our bodies, is used as the filler material in our clinic. The filler material must be certified by the world health organizations, without bearing a risk of allergic reaction and without being permanent for lifetime.

Permanent filler materials must not be preferred due to their high complication rates. Juvederm® is the name given to the filler materials developed by Allergan® company. It is the most widely used filler material in the world today. I have been using all JUVEDERM products safely for the comfort and satisfaction of both my patients and myself. VYCROSS® collection introduces an incredible breakthrough in this sector.

VYCROSS® collection has been designed for the treatment of the whole facial area with only three products: Juvederm VOLBELLA®, Juvederm VOLIFT® and Juvederm VOLUMA®. As each one of these products have different characteristics in terms of the number of cruciate ligaments, molecular weight and viscidity features, they can easily be used on any anatomical area of the facial skin and subcutaneous skin with certain thickness. For example, VOLBELLA® can be applied to a patient with under eye hollow and deep lacrimal duct complaints, whereas VOLUMA® may be used for a patient with deep nasolabial lines extending from the edges of the nose to the corners of the mouth.

With the fillers with Hyaluronic Acid content and Juvederm VYCROSS® collection, which is my choice, we can achieve a non-surgical rejuvenation within 15 minutes. The patients are satisfied, and so am I. What else is there to say?

ON WHICH PARTS OF THE BODY ARE FILLER MATERIALS WITH HYALURONIC ACID CONTENT USED IN AESTHETIC PROCEDURES?

Fillers may be used in aesthetic surgery and cosmetic procedures to create more pronounced cheekbones, to diminish the lines extending from the edges of the nose to the corners of the mouth, to form fuller lips and to dissolve the wrinkles around the eyes or on the forehead.

HOW LONG DOES THE FILLER’S EFFECT LAST?

The fillers are stabilized with cruciate ligaments to increase the permanency of the contained hyaluronic acid (HA) because a non-cruciate HA may stay in the body before absorption for a few days only. The amount of cruciate ligaments is the main reason that brands have various permanency rates. The application will be permanent for a period of 8-24 months based on the filler material and on the area it has been applied to.

A reinforcement or touch-up could be possible when the effects are beginning to fade, without waiting for the entire duration. We can inject the fat tissues collected from our patients after processing them and increasing their quality to resolve the skin laxity or lines on the face.

However, with these fat tissues, under eye bags treatment cannot be performed, lips cannot be highlighted or the curvature of the nose cannot be hidden. Even in the best case scenario, the smallest mass tissues would still be visible to cause a non-uniform appearance.
