As in everything, plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures have their own trends that change in time. Lips that were popular 20 years before may not be desirable today, or some trendy applications of today may be obsolete in 5 years’ time.

I have to show respect to all of these aspects and keep them in mind, and should draw certain lines as a plastic surgeon on subjects such as physiology in which only medical doctors have detailed knowledge.

The most significant service that a plastic surgeon can provide in plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures is foresight. That is to say, I am the one who is going to tell you how this operation will end up on your body, how the final appearance will be, and how the proportions, distances, angles and facial gestures will change on your face, and I refuse to do anything that is not in accordance with my foresight. This is a process which the patient and the doctor should jointly decide upon, but if I think that it will definitely be unpleasant or look unnatural and disproportional, I do not implement the things my patients want.
